The design

A card and its envelope, as one

A Chimanlals card is designed together with the envelope it arrives in, so the greeting and its cover share a border, a motif and a finish. Each is printed by hand.

Each piece is handmade

Colours, motifs and finishes can vary between batches, and card and envelope are matched by hand. The photographs show the character of the range; current designs and colours are confirmed when you enquire.

The craft

Printed by hand, screen by screen

Chimanlals largely uses silk-screen printing, a labour-oriented technique that creates the rich, vibrant effect described in the company profile. Cards are presented as coordinated card-and-envelope sets.

A note on handmade paper

Because every piece is handmade and handprinted, colours, motifs and exact patterns may vary slightly from the photographs shown. We confirm current designs and colours before anything is arranged.

This dated Google rating covers Chimanlals as a whole rather than this category. It must be rechecked before publication.

This might be my favorite shop in Mumbai. The prices are incredible and craftsmanship is stunning. You almost don't want to use what you buy; it's too beautiful. I also appreciate the kind and knowledgeable workers who make me happy to return.
